That explains why your’s truly has been using Ubuntu exclusively for the last few months. Ubuntu’s new release can be downloaded if you wish to try out the LiveCD, or go ahead and install it on your machines.

If you want to kill all referrer spam, or at least most of it, read Caveat Lector’s article on the topic.

While reading that topic, I came across Ann Elisabeth’s Blog, which looks like a mother-lode of information related to comment spammers, and how to trace, and kill them. I haven’t read even half of what’s on the blog, and I must it is a great resource for information.

Check out the WordPress mugs gallery, if you want to know what some WordPress look like in the much-overhyped “real” world. As far as I am concerned, I have a mental image of what the characters I meet in the virtual world might look like — complete mental profiles and potraits stitched together from conversations and tidbits.

Should you be interested in contributing a mugshot of yours to the gallery, use the upload page, and name your image after your IRC nick, so Alex knows who’s picture it is.

Lilina is a server-based feed aggregator powered by PHP and magpie. I was trying to dig into the code to see what’s going on, when I ran into a file called link-parse-opml.php, with the comment:

This file is based on link-parse-opml.php which is part of WordPress

blog uses WordPress.

It is good to see code being re-used.

Now that the WP core has the magpie library in it, how long will it be before someone writes a feed-reader plugin to display updates from blogs in a blog’s link-manager?

I hope ping-o-matic grows to include at least a few of these. I don’t want to wait on my weblog — no thanks, I’d rather have pingomatic do the donkey work.

The latest raffle at blogshares was a giveaway of 5 free hosting accounts at ReviseMedia, who have a WordPress oriented service. I had seen a ReviseMedia giveaway at AlexKing.org
a few days ago. It is good to see hosts using WordPress as a selling proposition.

I love it when the Moose interviews someone. It is, as yet, the best way of getting to know the people behind the product.

Of course, there already has been an interview with the interviewer. The Man Behind the Antlers is an old interview with Craig, aka NuclearMoose.

Ryan, or rboren, is probably the most elusive of the WP devs. His blog is a simple grey and brown affair with none of the bells and whistles that a wordpress blog can have. That it has comments disabled shows a little of how reserved he is. You will not find a link to his blog in a default WordPress blog’s index.php page, and it is quite possible that a lot of the users do not realize how prolific he is as a WordPress developer. For as long as I have been involved with WordPress, I have noticed Ryan tackling mundane, repetitive tasks, such as marking all of the source for the i18n and i10n effort – hours of boring, not-so-creative work. Ryan is also the resident rewrite guru, and along with Matt, generates a huge portion of the code commits in the CVS.
