Thanks for the post about wpZipper and I appreciate the comments.

You mentioned wanting to only get a copy of Wordpress from Wordpress.org and I completely understand your point. The main WP install zip on wpZipper is the same one you get from Wordpress.org–but, I’m not affiliated with WordPress, so I wouldn’t expect anyone to just take my word.

That’s why I also added the ability to download a ZIP of just the plugins you select, without WordPress. So you can download your own copy from Wordpress.org, if you so desire.

And for anyone wondering… themes are coming to wpZipper soon, as well as some other features that should hopefully make the site even more useful.

I appreciate any feedback! Thanks!

Patrick - now that is a good idea too. The themes could be saved too. Well, actually, if you zip up the folder with WordPress in it, you have your backup, and can do a clean install.

I devised an evil method to have one mothership wordpress install and using subversion to fetch the source for all other blogs from this source. Wasn’t that bad at all. Then I made it simpler by just svn-ing plugins. Finally, I am down to using a minimal number of plugins - less than 10 in any case.
