Stop Comments and Take Down Blog

A couple of useful plugins:

One that stops comments for the whole blog, when you are under fire, temporarily.

Another that takes your blog down, temporarily, leaving a polite message for the visitors.

Both from WeblogToolsCollection

There is so much obvious duplication between here, weblogtoolscollection, and BloggingPro. There should be someway of stopping this, in my opinion. So what do you say? Do I stop blogging about what appears on the other sites, or do I continue? If everyone who reads this blog also reads the other two, then I can stop. Continuing to report posts from the other two here is not much of a problem, either.

Please let me know.

  1. How about a little script that posts posts from each blog into the two others (with some kind of side note or something)?

  2. I’m all for it.

Perhaps we can all have an item in the sidebar (menu) with “most recently from X” , too :)

  3. Please continue, I like yours best by far! :-)

  4. While you each have a niche, there is a lot of overlap. I’d personally look at M&A to divide up the labor. ;)

  5. Beernd,
Thanks for the support. It feels good to know that this labour is not wasted :)

Right :) , now this not about money, it’s more about control over what I can write, and I am not so sure bloggingpro and wtc will relinquish their identities. I am not sure because I would have to think long and hard and then say no to stopping blogging about wordpress. I started this only so that I can stop writing about WordPress on my blog. To be honest, I did not like the fact that my personal blog, and WordPress related-posts were getting mixed up (though it sure helped drive visitors to my blog).

  6. I actually prefer the weblogs being totally separate. I read them all three and love each. Each blog really brings something different to the discussion.

  7. I read here and wtc, not bp.
For me, bp is just a list, whereas yourself and Mark offer commentary as well, and that makes your sites less of a list and more of a personal news blog. Your interests, though close, are different too, and that is a good thing :)

  8. The other two seem to have general posts on general blogging too. When I want to find out what is happening only to WP development I basically come to you. You seem to be the most useful newsling blog for WP ^^. If you have the time, please keep it up.

  9. Estera,

Sure thing! I love doing this, anyways, and encouragement in all forms is always welcome.

  10. I am sorry to say that I haven’t had the pleasure of visiting the other site. I primarily head over here in order to get my daily WP news fix.

  11. By the way, this is the best designed of the three.
The other 2, especially bp, looks like they have been thrown together at gunpoint.
